Angie Farrow is a senior lecturer at Massey University in New Zealand specialising in performance drama and creative processes. She has been writing plays since she was a student and her playwriting career was launched when, as a student, she won the Sunday Times Student Playwriting Award for her play ‘The Blue One’. Several Playwriting awards followed including a Fringe First for her play Privitus. After that Angie began writing for professional theatre and radio and has been doing so ever since.
Angie enjoys the poetry of physical theatre and the challenge of creating words around moving pictures. Works such as After kafka and Amnesia create self-contained universes and have strong choric elements that require physical athleticism and choreographed interpretation for their success.
Angie immigrated to New Zealand from the UK in 1990 and continued to combine an academic career with a career in writing. She has a special interest in theatre for young adults and her recent publication ‘Plays for Physical Theatre (Thomson Learning, 2005) is designed for young adult performers.
Despatch is scheduled to premiere in Los Angeles in May of 2008. Sharon Andrews and Jonathan Christman will team to direct and design this marvelous piece of theatre.
